Butts.
Though it is conceivable that these photos would be meant to represent an anti-smoking campaign, the passion behind them is actually environmental as opposed to social. I cannot stand cigarette butts in places other than the trash or an ashtray. This has severely irritated me for quite a while. This was not an attempt to display the harmful heath effects that smoking has or anything like that. It was meant to display the grotesqueness of the fact that so many smokers do not see anything wrong with leaving butts all over the place. I, myself, used to smoke, and I always made a very conscientious effort to dispose of cigarettes in a proper place.
Something even more disturbing to me about these shots is the fact that every single one was taken within a ten-foot radius. This just goes to show the fact that these things do add up. It is disgusting and I really wish people would just take the extra five seconds out of their day to walk over to a trash receptacle.
Maybe someday I will expand upon this project and really get a substantial amount of these types of photos together and try to… do… something about it.
